Let’s Talk… Theatre Management – Episode 1
Thursday 30th January 2025
On our inaugural episode, hear from theatre manager, Simon Scott-Pearce.
“It may be small, but it is perfectly formed.”
2025 was always shaping up to be a stellar year for Towngate Theatre. We had a brand new electrical refit, our latest panto with Evolution broke even more attendance figures, it seemed as though there wasn’t much else we could do…
So we started a podcast!
Our brand new arts professional podcast, Let’s Talk…, hosted by our Participation Officer, Tom, takes a deep dive into the world of the arts with each episode hosting a special guest from the industry. They will be talking about their careers and their paths to getting there, tips as to how to enter and work in the industry, and they will be answering your questions!
Who better to be our special guest that our very own Theatre Manager, Simon Scott-Pearce!
Simon has had an extensive career in theatre, from working stage door at Theatre Royal Plymouth to opening and operating venues, including Milton Keynes Theatre. Now managing the Towngate and co-producing our award winning pantomimes, Simon chats about his life in theatre and how he got where he is today, whilst giving nuggets of advice for those looking to work in the industry.
Having been with the Towngate for over 7 years now, Simon has seen the theatre through a lot, including the COVID pandemic and multiple closures. In this episode, Simon talks about how this has affected the theatre industry, what it meant for the Towngate, and where we are now.
You can listen to the episode wherever you listen to your podcasts, and don’t forget to save the show so you never miss an episode!
