Revised Box Office opening times
As we gradually reopen for live events from September 2021, our Box Office will be open for counter and telephone sales between the hours of 10am – 4pm, Monday to Friday. You can reach the team during these hours by calling us on 01268 205 300.
On performance days, the Box Office will be open for 2 hours prior to the performance time.
You can also reach the Box Office team via email on firstname.lastname@example.org. Please note that currently the Box Office team will not be available on email during weekends and on Bank Holidays, we will be happy to reply to your emails upon our return.
Towngate Café Bar
The Café Bar will be open between the hours of 9.30am – 3.30pm, Monday to Friday. You can reach the Café team during these hours by calling us on 01268 205 296.
On performance days, Café Bar will be open for 2 hours prior to the performance time. Last orders for food is a minimum of 45min prior to the performance.

How to get here
We’re on St Martin’s Square in the heart of Basildon Town Centre. Basildon bus station is a seven minute walk away (according to Google Maps, three minutes when we do it!) and Basildon train station is just five minutes away. The journey from Fenchurch Street takes 36 minutes. Southend is just a 20 minute ride away.
There’s plenty of car parking nearby.

We accept telephone bookings and payments using credit and debit cards (sorry, American Express and Electron cards not accepted).
Buy tickets at the box office. We accept Credit or Debit Card using a secure “chip and pin” system. Please note that since the Towngate closed due to the Covid-19 pandemic, currently we are not accepting cash payments at the Box Office or Cafe Bar.
Tickets by post delivery times
Tickets ordered online can be printed at home. If you choose to have your tickets posted to you, you’ll be charged an extra £2 (please note: this was increased by 50p from 1 October 2021). Please allow 7-10 working days for tickets to arrive by post.
Concession rates are applicable for children up to the age of 16, and adults aged 60 and over (unless stated otherwise).
Children and Infants
Please note that all babies, toddlers and children must have a ticket purchased on their behalf if they are attending any performance at Towngate Theatre. This is essential in order that we have an accurate record of the number of people in the auditorium in case of emergency and for Health and Safety requirements.
Payments greater than £1,000
No cash payments greater than £1,000 per person can be accepted in any one working day. This applies at all point of sale locations including Box Office, Towngate Café Bar, Gielgud Bar and any merchandise stalls. This applies to ticket transactions, food and drink purchases, and merchandise.
If paying by cheque, any transactions above £1,000 must be from a business account.
Bookings for customers requiring wheelchair access
Wheelchair allocated spaces must be booked in advance, and notice given if wheelchair assistance is required. See also, Access and facilities for people with disabilities.
