The Towngate Theatre is an exciting, lively regional theatre that presents an eclectic mix of Theatre, Music, Comedy and Dance across the flexible Main Auditorium (550 seats) and Mirren Studio (220 seats) and currently welcomes over 100,000 people through its doors each year to over 400 performances and activities including our annual award-winning Pantomime.

We are currently recruiting for an ambitious and enthusiastic Marketing and Sales Manager who will drive and lead our hardworking and passionate Sales team into a new and exciting chapter. As a key member of the Senior Management team, the Marketing and Sales Manager will be required to work closely with the other Senior Managers to deliver the vision statement and key aims and priorities of the Towngate.

The post holder will be responsible for the marketing, promotion, sales, advertising and public relations of the Towngate Theatre, along with strategic and effective use of the CRM system (Spektrix). They will also be responsible for the Box Office Supervisor, and resource management and the delivery of the Box Office service in the Towngate Theatre in addition to the design and delivery campaign of the season brochure which is currently distributed three times a year.

The Marketing and Sales Manager will work closely with the Theatre Manager to ensure effective promotion of the Towngate Theatre as a community resource and cultural hub. The Marketing and Sales Manager will be required to maintain a high level of support to all productions, and ensure maximum coverage and promotion to ensure ticket sales and attendance targets are met.

In addition to the marketing and promotional activity, the Marketing and Sales Manager will be responsible for the Line Management and effective delivery of the Box Office and Sales team, ensuring that our customer service and ability to maximise sales revenue through an effective and efficient box office service. The Marketing and Sales Manager will also be responsible for Line Managing the Towngate’s Education and Outreach Leader, and will assist in ideas and promotional campaigns to drive awareness of this department which focuses on community and youth projects.

Duty Manager (Casual)

We are looking for a welcoming and efficient Duty Manager to work as part of the front of house team at the theatre. The successful candidate will be responsible for the supervision and safety of patrons, front of house, cafe and bar staff and volunteer ushers for performances, events and functions.

The successful candidate should have demonstrable experience of facilitating and supporting large scale events, hires and activities. The post holder should also have excellent communication skills, as the role will involve liaising and negotiating with external bookers and visitors. A willingness to work evenings, weekends and public holidays as required is essential.

The Towngate Theatre are looking for individuals to support the Catering Team in the smooth running of all day to day operations. You may be the first point of call for internal and external customers and your primary goal is to give them an excellent audience experience by being welcoming, helpful, accurate, timely, and knowledgeable. You may occasionally be required to undertake shifts at our other venue The Place, which is based in the centre of Pitsea.

The Towngate Theatre runs its own catering which plays an important role in showcasing the quality of what we do. The theatre is about to embark on the delivery of an exciting new business plan that is set to widen the appeal of the theatre. We have seen a significant increase in the amount of customers using the café/bar and we are now seeking experienced individuals to help deliver our high quality service at our busiest times.
