Towngate Theatre is an exciting and lively regional theatre based in Basildon, Essex, where we welcome over 100,000 theatregoers through our doors each year. We present an eclectic mix of theatre, music, comedy and dance across two performance spaces: the Main Auditorium (575 seats) and the Mirren Studio (220 seats).
We provide a friendly and polite welcome to a wide range of professional productions and community organisations, in addition to producing our own successful in-house pantomime.

Theatre Administrator

We are looking for a hard-working, logical and enthusiastic individual to join our team as Theatre Administrator. The successful candidate must have suitable experience with in an administrative role and providing support to a management team.

As the Theatre Administrator, you will provide key administration duties for the operation of the Towngate Theatre; including the purchasing of supplies, accounts and contracts related to the performances, events and general operation. The successful candidate will act as the lead chaperone for the application process and licensing, scheduling, recruitment and supervision of both child performers and chaperones for all Towngate productions and liaise with appropriate licensing authorities. You will be a key point of contact for visiting companies, artists, performers and production staff and be experienced in providing first class customer service, to both external and internal customers. Box Office & Sales Supervisor

We are looking for a hard-working, logical and enthusiastic individual to join our team as our Box Office and Sales Supervisor. The successful candidate must have suitable experience in the industry to supervise and lead on the smooth delivery of our Box Office service as part of our Marketing and Sales team.

As the Box Office and Sales Supervisor you will be able to handle the effective administration of the Box Office ticketing system, including overseeing financial and data reporting, plus ensuring effective staff management and rota scheduling. The successful candidate will be experienced in providing first class customer service; you must be a team orientated person and a willingness to work evenings and weekends is essential.

Stage Door Receptionist

We are looking for a Stage Door Receptionist to provide first class customer service with a high standard of presentation, and a warm and welcoming greeting to all entering the theatre through the stage door.

The successful candidate should have demonstrable experience of working in a busy receptionist position, or of working in a customer services facing role. The post holder should also have excellent communication skills, interpersonal skills and a good telephone manner. A willingness to work evenings, weekends and public holidays as required is essential.

As Stage Door Receptionist you will have a key role in providing a safe and secure environment for visiting companies and staff.  You must be a team orientated person.

Chef

We are looking for a part time Chef to provide first class customer service with a high standard of presentation.The successful candidate will be required to operate commercial catering equipment, clean the equipment and surfaces, as well as recording the cleaning in the kitchen’s daily diary. The Chef will also be responsible for the rotation of stock and appropriate stock control. The post holder will be required to prepare and cook meals, to undertake temperature checks, hygiene inspections and records, and immediately reporting any issues.

The post holder should have demonstrable experience of working in a busy hospitality venue, be prepared to work as part of a team, and assist in all aspects of service. A willingness to work evenings, weekends and public holidays as required is essential. As the part time Chef, you will be required to hold Food Hygiene certification, preferably at Level Three.
