Towngate Theatre aims to make the world of theatre accessible to all education and alternative provision institutions. We strongly believe in the importance of education and outreach work in primary schools, secondary schools and colleges as well as youth groups.
We offer workshops covering devising, performance and technical skills, as well as bespoke workshops tailored to the needs of your school or college.

OUT OF THE BOX
Our out of the box workshops are great ways to engage young people in quick thinking and devising. These half-day to full-day workshops include a theatre devising and exploration workshop with an array of props and themed stimuli that can be based around a specific type of theatre or a variety of items. From themes around improvisation and comedy to youth violence and local issues, these workshops cater to all your needs and can happen at your institution or at the theatre itself.
THEAtricks
Let the fun begin! This half day or full day workshop is full of creative games and activities aimed to boost communicative skills, interaction, and team working. Most of all, it is just to have fun! These are also the perfect introduction to creative facilitation and workshop leading.
Although great for young people, this workshop is also beneficial to groups and companies looking to enhance heir team cohesion, and also find creative ways to work through outcomes.
Future Proof
A full day workshop designed to engage young people in critical thinking and future planning, our Future Proof workshop aims to have young people not only at the forefront of conversations, but giving them the tools to start them. With exploration of themes such as climate change, careers, and community to name a few, this workshop is perfect for those wanting to engage their young people creatively in thoughts for the future. These workshops can also be designed as bespoke pieces for your own themes or concepts you would like to undertake with your young people.
Double Take
Using a blend of theatre and devising techniques, these workshops aim to build confidence, team-driven problem solving, and future planning. Perfect for corporate and company training, these workshops can be one-off sessions to 6-week projects to creatively push through those barriers.
