LET’S TALK! Welcome to our brand new blog and podcast, Towngate: Let’s Talk…

At Towngate Theatre, we take pride in the all that we do. Whether you visit us for shows, to use the café, or you attend one of our workshops, we hope there is something for everyone at the theatre. 

You may have noticed, but we aren’t the same Towngate we were a few years ago… Since reopening in 2021 post-lockdown, we have worked hard to bring arts and culture to Basildon through not only shows, but through the work that we do in workshops, our extra curricular pantomime activities, and also ramping up the work that we do outside of the building to share the arts with the wider borough. It has become quite the programme we are offering at the theatre, and we don’t always know how best to share what we were up to. How do we let people know about the new shows we are booking in? How do we keep people up to date with all the work that goes on behind the scenes? How do we share updates on the workshops and projects we are working on with our partners? We decided to all sit down in a meeting and, after a minute or two of silence, one member of staff said “let’s talk” – and it was in that moment our new idea was brought to life.

Let’s Talk… is our way of sharing more than ever before. We will be posting blogs, uploading a new Towngate podcast, and sharing more about the theatre than people have ever seen. We will be sharing stories, behind the scenes exclusives, and also having takeovers from our partners to let you know about everything you could potentially be getting involved with in the theatre (and around the borough!).
