The Art Themen Organ Trio
Thursday 16th July 2026
Art Themen Trio
An exciting and inventive saxophonist, Art Themen has been an appealing presence on the British jazz circuit for over 60 years. A previous winner of the tenor sax category in the British Jazz Awards, recipient of a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Worshipful Company of Musicians and shortlisted for the Jazz Instrumentalist of the year in the recent Parliamentary Jazz Awards, this living legend has famously combined his role as a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon with saxophone duties in the bands of Alexis Korner and Stan Tracey as well as recordings with Joe Cocker, Jack Bruce and even Bing Crosby.
Described by THE OBSERVER as “One of the tiny handful of undeniably perfect jazz musicians”, he remains as brilliant and inimitable as ever. Themen’s organ trio features organist Pete Whittaker, formerly of The Nigel Price Organ Trio, and drummer George Double who has worked as sideman to Shirley Bassey and Jack Jones. The band’s groove-led re imaginings of quirky curiosities from the jazz canon act as a perfect vehicle for the twinkly mischief of this genuine grandee of British jazz and have delighted crowds at over 100 gigs at Ronnie Scott’s, The Royal Albert Hall’s Elgar Room, the 606 club in Chelsea and across the UK.
The Trio’s third album Live In Soho is released on Ubuntu Music and captures a magical night at PizzaExpressLive in Dean Street in August 2023.
Blue Town Trio
Thursday 20th August 2026
Blue Town Trio
The line up for Blue Town trio is Zoe Francis vocals, Jim Mullen guitar, & Liam Dunachie Hammond organ.
Multi award-winning guitarist Jim Mullen, much loved around the world by guitarists, has toured and recorded with many artists including, Mose Allison, Gene Harris, Jimmy Smith, Frank Wes, Johnny Griffin, Georgie Fame, Jimmy Witherspoon, Van Morrison, AWB, Kokomo, Brian Auger, Robert Palmer, Claire Martin. As well as a 15 year partnership, with the great tenor saxophonist Dick Morrissey, in popular band “Morrissey Mullen”, Jim has recorded many albums under his own name in trio and quartet projects with leading UK musicians.
London based vocalist Zoe Francis met Jim Mullen in 2013, they have toured and recorded 4 albums together. Including “The Very Thought of You” release, live at 606 club, including great musicians Stan Sulzman & Gareth Williams. Zoe’s love of the American Songbook developed in her childhood, classic songs that feature a well crafted lyric, backed with great harmony and fresh arrangements.
Today with talented, much in demand, Liam Dunachie on hammond organ, they will be performing songs from “Somewhere in the Night” & “Blue Town” albums. The combination of rich layers of sound from Liam, Jim’s melodic blues lines and Zoe’s beautiful voice make for a delightful show. Not to be missed!
