Theatre Technician

Full Time: 36.25 hours per week

Are you passionate about theatre and looking for an exciting new opportunity? The Towngate Theatre in Basildon, just 35 minutes from central London by train, is seeking a welcoming and efficient Theatre Technician to to join our team on a 2 year fixed term contract.

Our thriving 564-seat theatre, with a 220-seat studio theatre is known for its award-winning in-house pantomime. As a Theatre Technician, you will be responsible for supporting and facilitating productions, as well as backstage requirements for all events as directed by the Technical Manager or Deputy Technical Manager. This includes the operation and maintenance of the theatre on a day-to-day basis, including duties such as Duty Technician, Lighting Technician/Operator, Sound Technician/Operator, Flyman, Followspot Operator, Stage Crew and Seating Call.

The successful candidate will have demonstrable experience of technical theatre, facilitating and supporting large-scale productions, hires, and events. Excellent communication skills are essential as the role involves liaising with external production companies and hirers. Flexibility with working hours is also required as you will be expected to work daytimes, evenings, weekends, and public holidays.
