Towngate Theatre is an exciting and lively regional theatre based in Basildon, Essex, where we welcome over 100,000 theatregoers through our doors each year. We present an eclectic mix of theatre, music, comedy and dance across two performance spaces: the Main Auditorium (576 seats) and the Mirren Studio (220 seats)

We provide a friendly and polite welcome to a wide range of professional productions and community organisations, in addition to producing our own successful in-house pantomime

Artist Commission – The Apprentice: Culture Edition

Towngate Theatre, in partnership with local education providers, is seeking specialist freelance artists to support the delivery of The Apprentice: Culture Edition. This is an Arts Council funded pilot designed to introduce young people to new artforms, develop creative career aspirations, and empower students to design and lead their own artistic projects within the community. This project will be taking place during the summer term.
