If you’re coming by car, set your sat nav to SS14 1DL (or find directions to a particular car park following the links below). We’re about 15 minutes from the M25, and there’s plenty of parking on the doorstep.

Car parking
There is plenty of daytime car parking within a short walk of the Towngate, both surface and multi-storey.
Please note: Car parking charges and opening times for the car parks listed below were correct at time of publication but may now be different.
Please be aware that the Towngate Theatre is not affiliated with any Pay and Display car parks in the local area, so we would thoroughly recommend that you check the rules and regulations of your intended car park prior to your visit.
Allocated disabled parking bays
There are allocated parking bays for people with disabilities in the parking area at the rear of the theatre.
Westgate Shopping Park – surface parking (207 Spaces)
Car parking prices and opening times may vary
- Open: 7 days per week – 24 hrs a day

Caution: Please note that there is a maximum stay of 2 hours on the surface parking before 6pm
Westgate Shopping Park – multi-storey car park (224 Spaces)
- Open: 7 days per week – 06:00 – 22:00
- Get directions: Westgate Shopping Park – multi-storey car park
- Caution: We must warn patrons that the multi-storey section of Westgate car park is locked between 10.00pm and 7.00am every evening
Eastgate – multi-storey (800 Spaces)
- Open: Monday – Saturday 6am – 8pm
- Open: Sunday 7am – 5pm

Buses, trains and taxis
We’re on St Martin’s Square in the heart of Basildon Town Centre.
Basildon bus station is a seven minute walk away (according to Google Maps – three minutes when we do it!).
Basildon train station is just five minutes away. The journey from Fenchurch Street takes 36 minutes. Southend is just a 20 minute ride away.

Important update – Westgate Car Park, Dated 23 January 2026
Westgate Car Park is now operating as pay on arrival. All drivers must pay for parking when they arrive and purchase the full duration of their stay at the point of entry.
To help visitors get used to the new system, parking enforcement will not take place for the first couple of weeks.
How to pay
- Pay by phone using MiPermit (now live)
- Parking machines are due to be installed shortly
- Please make sure you select the correct location code for where you are parked
