Book and Visit with confidence

Important customer information

Please read this through carefully before you book or visit the theatre to help you relax and enjoy your visit with confidence.

The health and the safety of our audiences, the Towngate staff and our team of volunteer ushers is of paramount importance at all times. The information below outlines what measures and steps we are taking to ensure you the safest and most enjoyable visit possible, and what help we need from you to help us do that.

All measures are correct as of February 2022, and will be continually reviewed and updated in accordance to the latest guidance and advice issued by the Government.

What to expect on your visit to Towngate Theatre

You should not attend a performance if:

  • You are experiencing Covid symptoms
  • You have tested positive on a Lateral Flow Test or PCR test

If you are unable to attend a performance due to either of these reasons, you should contact our Box Office Team on to discuss the options for your booking.

Current Government guidelines from 27 January 2022 are: If you have symptoms, or test positive on a lateral flow test or PCR test, you should isolate for a minimum of 5 days from the date that symptoms first occurred. By taking LFTs on the 5th and 6th days, if those LFTs are negative. you can come out of isolation (you require two lateral flow tests – 24 hours apart – in order to no longer isolate).

There is no requirement for any other members of the household to isolate unless they also have symptoms or test positive on a LTR, at which point they should follow the government guidelines on isolation as above.

Face Coverings

Face coverings are advisory from 27 January 2022, we recommend that all visitors and customers over the age of 11 exercise social responsibility and continue to wear a face mask when entering and moving around the building.

You may of course remove your face covering when consuming food or drink, or when sat in the auditorium.

All Towngate staff and Visiting Production crew will continue to wear face coverings.

Please remember: some people are exempt and unable to wear face coverings, and that the reasons for this may not be visible to others.

Help us help you; let’s keep each other safe

Purchasing food, drinks and merchandise

Our bars and kiosk are open for you to purchase food, drinks, and ice cream to enjoy with the performance.

Please note: We only accept card payments, we are a cashless venue

Hand Sanitation and Enhanced Cleaning

Hand sanitation stations have been installed at numerous points around our building. We strongly encourage all visitors, customers and staff to regularly wash their hands and use the hand sanitiser stations.

All public corridors, toilets, bars and auditorium areas will be subject to enhanced cleaning regimes daily each morning and between performances including regular cleaning of touchpoints e.g. toilets, door handles, handrails prior to each performance and also during the day.

As part of our mitigating methods, we are utilising the maximum capacity of the air handling system within the auditorium to provide a fresh air supply circulating into the auditorium and other areas of the building, this means the building might feel a little cooler than you are used to so we advise you layer up for your visit.

Box Office and ticket collection

When booking tickets online, we strongly recommend that you select the E-Ticket option wherever possible. If you have chosen to select an E-Ticket, for your visit, please either print this ticket or ensure it is available on your smartphone device.

If you have received your tickets in the post already, please bring these with you as normal. Any future tickets will either be posted out or emailed for printing.

Should you need to collect tickets, please ensure you come to Box Office as early as possible before the show to collect your tickets. You will need to have collected your tickets before heading to your allocated entry point. Our Box Office is open from 10.30am.

Our toilets are open throughout the day and are fully ventilated. Our facilities are available throughout the performance should you wish to use them at quieter times and avoid queues.

To aid ventilation within our toilet facilities during performances, the main entrance door to the toilets will be held open (cubicle doors can be closed).

Leaving the building

When your performance has ended, we kindly ask that you collect your rubbish and dispose of it in one of our many bins provided.

When exiting the building, please be socially responsible and wear your face mask, make your way promptly away from the building to your mode of transport or next destination.

No visitors to Stage Door

Regrettably, we are unable to allow visitors in the BOH areas or allow anyone to wait at our Stage Door. There are no exceptions to this rule.

We are continuing to review our protocols under the Government’s latest guidelines with regards to Covid safety. The information below is subject to change as the guidance is updated over the following weeks and months.
